Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, Playing Well by chinmusic on Thursday 23 August 2007 at 4:34 pm

Nelson Cruz earned a demotion to the minors in the first half of the season but he has really played well in the 2nd half of the year for the Rangers.  Cruz has played in 21 games in the 2nd half of the season and he is 23 for 79 (.291 avg, .799 OPS) with 12 runs scored, 3 homers and 12 RBIs.  His season numbers are starting to improve but they still don’t look too good yet.  Cruz has now played in 65 games this season and he is 50 for 223 (.224 avg, .639 OPS) with 26 runs scored, 6 homers and 24 RBIs.

The Rangers have placed utility man Jerry Hairston on the 15-day disabled list.  He hasn’t had a good season this year for the Rangers.  He has played in 65 games this year and he is 29 for 149 (.195 avg, .547 OPS) with 21 runs scored, 3 homers and 13 RBIs.

The Rangers have placed righty starter Kameron Loe on the 15-day disabled list with tightness in his lower back.  Loe has pitched in 24 games (19 starts) for the Rangers this season and he is 5-9 with a 5.80 ERA and a 1.58 WHIP.  In 116.1 innings this season Loe has allowed 139 hits, walked 45 batters and whiffed 62.

The Rangers have recalled Mike Wood from the minors to replace Loe in the rotation.  Wood has pitched in 5 games (4 starts) for the Rangers this season and he is 1-1 with a 5.40 ERA and a 1.85 WHIP.  In 21.2 innings he has allowed 29 hits, walked 11 batters and whiffed 12.  Don’t expect much from Wood.

Freddy Guzman could get another chance in the majors soon for the Texas Rangers

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, The Minors by chinmusic on Sunday 5 August 2007 at 5:51 pm

If the Rangers continue to part their team out in August it’s possible that Freddy Guzman will get a chance to show what he can do in the major leagues.  Guzman is a 26 year old switch hitting outfielder who is currently playing in AAA ball.  Guzman has played in 104 games in AAA this season and he is 107 for 415 (.258 avg, .688 OPS) with 70 runs scored, 4 homers, 28 RBIs and 41 stolen bases.  Guzman is a natural center fielder who doesn’t have the bat for a corner position.

Ian Kinsler comes off of the DL for the Texas Rangers

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page by chinmusic on Wednesday 1 August 2007 at 2:58 pm

Ian Kinsler has returned from the disabled list and it comes at the right time as they need his bat more than ever now with Mark Teixeira out of town.  Kinsler has played in 75 games this season and he is 64 for 265 (.242 avg, .785 OPS) with 51 runs scored, 14 homers, 35 RBIs and 11 stolen bases.  To make room for Kinsler on the roster the Rangers have designated Desi Relaford for assignment.  Relaford played in 14 games for the Rangers and he was 3 for 26 (.115 avg, .294 OPS) with 2 runs scored.
