Blogged under Arrivals & Departures, Bloglockers, Front Page by chinmusic on Thursday 22 November 2007 at 12:39 am

The Rangers have signed Ryan Roberts to a minor league contract. Roberts played in 8 games for the Blue Jays last season and he was 1 for 13 (.077 avg) with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI. Roberts has now played in 17 major league games in his career and he is 2 for 26 (.077 avg) with 3 runs scored, 1 homer and 1 RBI. The Rangers will be better off if they don’t need Roberts in 2008.

He played in 37 games for the Rangers and he was 25 for 104 (.240 avg, .797 OPS) with 13 runs scored, 9 homers and 25 RBIs. Diaz has now played in 147 games in his major league career and he is 114 for 446 (.256 avg, .796 OPS) with 62 runs scored, 24 homers and 73 RBIs. Diaz will likely get a chance from somebody because of the power numbers he has put up in his career.

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page by chinmusic on Thursday 1 November 2007 at 12:18 am

The Rangers have re-signed Joaquin Benoit to a 2-year, $6 million dollar contract. Benoit has his eyes on Eric Gagne’s old job as closer and it will be interesting to see if the Rangers give him a shot or not. Benoit had the best season of his career in 2007 as he worked in 70 games and he was 7-4 with 6 saves, a 2.85 ERA and a 1.17 WHIP. He pitched 82 innings and he only allowed 68 hits, walked 41 batters and whiffed 55.
