The Texas Rangers place Eric Hurley on the D.L.
The Rangers have placed rookie righty starter Eric Hurley on the 15-day disabled list due to a strained left hamstring. That is a shame as Hurley has pitched well so far this season. Hurley has started 4 games for the Rangers this season and he is 1-1 with a 3.57 ERA and a 1.28 WHIP. The Rangers have recalled lefty starting pitcher Matt Harrison from AAA ball. Harrison was the #12 prospect in the Rangers’ minor league system coming into this season according to Baseball America. He has started 15 games this season between AA+AAA ball and he is 6-3 with a 3.43 ERA and a 1.39 WHIP. Harrison won his major league debut going 7 strong innings against the Angels last night. It’s quite possible that the Rangers will keep both Harrison and Hurley in the rotation after the All Star Break if they are both pitching well.
They just put Vicente Padilla on the DL too. Their pitching staff is going in the toilet fast.
That’s a shame Ricky as Padilla was having a big season. The Rangers should try to add some pitching for some of the extra hitting they have if they want to try to win the wild card.
