You know that you’re not too good if the Rangers cut you and you are a pitcher. The Rangers have released lefties John Rheinecker, A.J. Murray, Bill White and righty Brian Gordon. Rheinecker didn’t pitch with the Rangers this season due to injury. In his two year career with the Rangers, Rheinecker pitched in 44 games (20 starts) and he compiled a 8-9 record with a 5.65 ERA and a 1.75 WHIP. It was a little bit of a surprise to see the Rangers cut loose 26-year old lefty A.J. Murray. Murray started 2 games in 2008 for the Rangers and he was 1-0 with a 3.52 ERA and a 1.96 WHIP. He also pitched in two seasons for the Rangers covering 16 games (4 starts) in which he was 2-2 with a 4.29 ERA and a 1.54 WHIP. 30-year old lefty Bill White was a disaster in 2008 for the Rangers. He pitched in 8 games (0 starts) and he was 0-0 with a 20.25 ERA and a 4.50 WHIP. White pitched in parts of two seasons for the Rangers in his career and he was 2-0 with a 9.45 ERA and a 2.48 WHIP. His biggest problem was control as he walked 18 batters in only 13.1 innings for the Rangers. 30-year old reliever Brian Gordon made his major league debut for the Rangers working in 3 games (0 starts) in which he was 0-0 with a 2.25 ERA and a 1.00 WHIP. The Rangers are going to overhaul much of the pitching staff and getting rid of these four guys was a good place to start.
