The new guys have not made as big of a impact as the Texas Rangers had hoped so far
Lefty starting pitcher Cliff Lee has had more than his share of bad luck so far for the Rangers. He has started 8 games for the Rangers this year and he is 2-3 with a 3.44 ERA and a 0.95 WHIP. He has 58 whiffs and only 4 walks in 65 1/3 innings for the Rangers as he is pounding the strike zone. But the Rangers’ D and offense have let him down so far. That could change at any time with the way Lee is pitching right now. Bengie Molina has been spotty with a bat in his hands so far for the Rangers. Molina has played in 30 games for the Rangers and he is 21 of 93 (.226 avg, .616 OPS) with 7 runs scored, 2 homers and 11 RBIs. The Rangers expect more out of the bat from him the rest of the way. Jorge Cantu hasn’t shown any power yet for the Rangers. He has played in 10 games for the Rangers and he is 9 of 30 (.300 avg) with 3 runs scored. Christian Guzman is on the D.L. and he was awful before getting hurt. Guzman has played in 10 games for the Rangers so far and he is 3 of 34 (.088 avg, .227 OPS) with 2 runs scored. The track record of these four players tells me that they are going to turn things around soon.
