The Texas Rangers sign Joakim Soria
The Texas Rangers have signed 28-year old righty reliever Joakim Soria to a 2-year deal. Soria didn’t pitch last season due to Tommy John Surgery. He has pitched in 298 games (0 starts) in his first five years in the majors and he is 13-15 with 160 saves, a 2.40 ERA and a 1.04 WHIP. Soria has only given up 242 hits and 87 walks in 315 1/3 innings so far in his major league career while whiffing 341 batters which are outstanding numbers. The Rangers are going to use Soria to set up Joe Nathan. If Soria is healthy, the Rangers are going to be nasty at the back end of the pen in 2013.
