The Texas Rangers have signed outfielder Chih-Hsien Chiang

The Rangers have signed 24-year old lefty swinging outfielder Chin-Hsien Chiang to a minor league deal. Chiang came into last season as the Mariners’ #24 prospect according to Baseball America. Chiang played in 117 games in AA+AAA-ball for the Mariners last year and he was 112 of 449 (.249 avg, .644 OPS) with 41 runs scored, 7 homers, 48 RBIs and 3 stolen bases. Chiang has now played in 665 games in his first seven years in the minors and he is 676 of 2,470 (.274 avg, .753 OPS) with 311 runs scored, 58 homers, 357 RBIs and 20 stolen bases. Chiang will likely start the 2013 season in AAA-ball for the Rangers.
