The Rangers selected 24-year old righty reliever Coty Woods in the Rule 5 Draft away from the Rockies. Woods came into last year as the Rockies’ #29 prospect according to Baseball America. Woods pitched in 61 games in AA+AAA-ball for the Rockies last year and he was 4-4 with 27 saves, a 3.20 ERA and a 1.40 WHIP. He has now pitched in 151 games (0 starts) in his first four years in the minors and he is 12-10 with 34 saves, a 2.81 ERA and a 1.25 WHIP. Woods will get a shot to win a job in the Rangers’ bullpen next spring.
