The Texas Rangers sign Brandon Allen
The Rangers have signed 26-year old lefty swinging 1B Brandon Allen to a minor league deal. Allen played in 10 games for the A’s and Rays last year and he was 2 for 20 (.100 avg, .432 OPS) with 3 runs scored, 1 homer and 3 RBIs. He has now played in 116 games in his first four years in the majors and he is 70 for 344 (.203 avg, .665 OPS) with 44 runs scored, 12 homers, 41 RBIs and 3 stolen bases. Allen will likely start the 2013 season in AAA-ball for the Rangers, but he might be able to help them at some point next year.
